Japanese most promising animation "Jujutsu Kaisen" is available on Netflix!!

Have you ever heard of "Jujutsu Kaisen", a work that has been made into an anime and is attracting a lot of attention following "Onimei no Blade"? In this article, I will explain why Jujutsu Kaisen is so popular.

What is "Jujutsu Kaisen"?

It has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since March 2018, and as of January 2021, the series has sold over 25 million copies, including the digital version. As of January 2021, the total number of copies of the series, including the digital version, has surpassed 25 million, and the anime has become such a hot topic that it is now in its second season. It's a dark fantasy with a lot of horror elements such as "curses", but it also has a lot of comical elements that make it addictive, and many people have become addicted to it. The story is set in modern Tokyo and Kyoto, and the main character is a high school student, making it easy for readers to relate to the story.

Story

A high school student, Yuji Itadori, is attending a school when a "curse spirit" suddenly appears. The negative emotions such as hatred and regret that flow out of humans become "curses", and they tend to accumulate in places such as schools and hospitals where many people have fond memories. In order to prevent curses, a "jujubutsu" with strong magical power was placed at the school Torajan attends as an amulet, but when the seal was loosened, it attracted curses. However, the seal has been loosened and the curse has been brought back. To retrieve the spell, Megumi Fushiguro, a sorceress, rushes to help. However, Torajan is forced into a corner by the battle with the spell, and in order to gain strength and defeat the spell, he swallows the spell, "Double-sided Tsuina (Fingers of Tsuina)", which leads to many difficulties.

Why is it so popular?

The first reason why Jujutsu Kaisen is so popular is that it has a story that is typical of a royal shonen manga: friendship, effort, and victory.

In addition, as symbolized by the use of "jujutsu" in the title, "curses" are an important theme in this work, and curses are related to "jujutsu masters," "jujutsu spirits," "jujutsu objects," and so on everywhere. When you hear the word "curse," you may have a negative impression that it sounds scary, or you may think that it is just a fiction, but this work shows that even a familiar "promise" can be a curse in some cases. For example, Torajan's grandfather leaves behind the words, "You are strong, so help others." This is a promise that Torajan wants to keep with his loved ones, and at the same time, it is a curse that he will always be aware of. When you think about it, it makes you realize that curses may be something that everyone has, and despite the fantasy, you will feel a sense of familiarity with it.

Last but not least, there are the unique characters. The main characters alone are quite impressive: Eugene Torache, the protagonist who has amazing physical abilities and a vivacious and honest personality; Megumi Fushiguro, who is cool but actually cares about her friends; Kugisaki No-Bara, who has a strong longing for the city and is not very talkative; and Gojo Satoru, the sorcerer teacher who is feared as the strongest even by his enemies. There's also Maki Zen-in, a manly and tsundere senior student at the sorcerer's school, and Inumaki Toge, a panda who is no longer human and can only speak with rice ball ingredients like "shake. As you learn more about each character's personality and background, you will gradually come to love them, and look forward to the appearance of new characters and battle scenes!
